Great starter camera for kids but the battery cover is too easy to open

One of my kids has this camera and one has the older Kidizoom Connect model. They are both easy enough for a 3 year old to use. I deducted a star because in the few months that we’ve had the Connect they have never managed to get the battery compartment open, whereas within 2 days of having this Pix model we were hunting for the battery compartment cover twice. The features of the 2 models are basically the same except that they have different games.

Got this as a big-brother gift for my 3 1/2 yr-old son when our second child was born. When I ordered this camera, the older version was still available but marked as discontinued and this one had no reviews. The old model had great reviews, so I figured going with the new one was a safe bet.

Kid-friendly camera

This is a neat camera/toy. I was expecting a simple, kid-friendly camera. I didn’t expect any games to be on it. They are fairly simple, like a bunny game that plays like an easier, shorter Frogger, plus like 2-3 other games. Very simple, unremarkable games, but when my son first used this camera, he would play that bunny game often.

Toy first, camera second

Huge hit with my almost 4 year old! He loves taking his own photos and this camera is so easy for little hands. It’s built to take abuse, which is a definite must for a 3 year old. The ability to insert an SD card is great so I’m not forced to constantly delete or transfer his photos. It shuts off by itself after a short bout of inactivity which saves on batteries. There’s also a small selection of games to play on the camera, the bunny hop game is a favorite. It doesn’t take the best resolution pictures but they’re good enough for little photographers to be pleased. If your expectation is that this is a toy first and foremost and a camera second, you won’t be disappointed. My little guy is getting excited about photography and learning the very basics. For older kids who expect cell phone quality pictures or better, I would definite shop for a different camera.

Great kid camera.

I like to cut to the chase on some of these reviews and this is one. I have read several reviews complaining about the image quality. It is a “kids” camera not a $1,000 plus DSLR camera and will not perform like one. It is great for a starter camera for a child. The grips are large enough for them to hold and being able to take videos as well is great. My daughter also likes the games that come on the camera and the ability to to photo frames on the pictures

Wish it had a charging cable!

Purchased this as a first/starter camera for my 3 1/2 year old daughter who absolutely loves taking pictures. She was tickled pink with it and I believe it was her favorite gift she received for Christmas this year. She has carried it with her everywhere for the past few days. It is a 2MP camera so don’t expect to be blown away with the quality but for a kid it doesn’t really matter. Most of her photos are of the floor anyways. But its great for learning and getting the hang of using a real camera. It’s seems to be sturdy and will hopefully sustain any falls. Also love that it has the games so that she has a little something extra to do when she gets bored of taking pictures. The only reason I counted off one star is due to the fact that it takes batteries and does not have a charging cable.

Got this for my 3 year old’s birthday/Christmas. She LOVES it. She has been playing with our real cameras for so long and always using our phones to take pictures. I love that the camera has the rubber surface so it’s easy to grip, comes with a wrislet to secure it onto her, and from there on just easy point and shoot! And she loves the mini games on there too. It’s nothing fancy or high tech, but super perfect for this age. She is obsessed with having her own camera. I just go in routinely to delete most pictures so she doesn’t run out of room (you can also insert an SD card in there).
