If you are looking at your first mini-quad, as I was when I purchased this, then your looking at the right product. Let me start off by saying that I have had zero experience with quads before this and after about 2 weeks I have mastered my orientation and am having a blast each time I take this thing out. I was immediately hooked when I first went outside with it, but a tip is to stay low to the ground and use the prop guards and landing gear for a good amount of time until you can handle this mini-quad. Parts are plentiful and really cheap as well, so don’t forget to get some extra parts kits for those beginners’ crashes because we all have them!
Great Beginner Quadcopter – Can Be Used For FPV

I’m not a quadcopter expert by any means, but I have flown a number of different models. The Syma X5C-1 is the best handling and easiest to fly of any of the entry level quadcopters I have flown. I like the UDI U818A and have three. They are fun to fly, forgiving, and have survived many crashes. However, since I bought the Symas, I now have two X5C-1s, I rarely fly the U818A. The X5C-1 is more stable, easier to hover, handles the wind better, and can survive some rough treatment. It will carry an 808 Keychain camera if you want upgraded video, but will not fly well with a Mobius or anything heaver. With a little practice, it can be flown inside or out.
I did not have expectations that this would be all that good a quadcopter

I bought this on the Amazon treasure truck for $29, and feeling how light the box it came in was, I did not have expectations that this would be all that good a quadcopter. I am astonished at how great this thing is.

I’m pretty blown away by the price/performance ratio – it really exceeded my expectations.
Total drone newbie still loving it a year later

Bought this for our 9 yo for Christmas 2015. Within minutes we both had it down and we were good enough to even fly it indoors.
Amazing. For the price it is unbeatable.

Amazing product for the price. This is the first quadcopter I’ve ever flown or owned. If you want to learn how to use a camera quadcopter/drone before buying a bigger more expensive version get this to start. It does take some practice to fly but was quite easy once I learned how. Fly it indoors to start and keep it a couple inches off the ground until you get the hang of it. Use the trim buttons on the remote to zero it in. The first time I flew this outdoors I got it caught in a tree because my piloting skills weren’t good enough yet. I had to duct tape a 20 foot painters pole to a 16 foot tree saw pole to get high enough to get it down. Even after falling through the tree branches all the way to the ground it was completely undamaged. It feels cheap but it is remarkably tough. Today I flew it in an open park area and even with some strong breezes I was able to control it. It takes some concentration but this copter is precise enough that you can hover and land on a platform that is 6 inches square or even on your own hand. For the price I paid I have zero complaints. The battery life is not very long but for less than 9 bucks you can buy these two extra batteries like I did. Mudder Upgraded 680mAh 3.7V Lipo Rechargeable Battery for Syma X5 X5C Quadcopter. I would also recommend putting a rubber band around the middle of the copter to hold the battery door/camera on better. If you bump the ground too hard it could pop the battery door open. Easy fix. Video quality is not crystal clear and not stabilized so don’t expect professional footage but for the price you can’t beat it. It also records sound but likely you will only hear the propellers and wind noise. Still, it is pretty cool that it even has sound. This thing is great! Go get one. I might even buy a second one.
Awesome Toy and Picture Taker
This is the best starting out Quadcopter. What you get for the money is amazing. This is my 2nd one in less than a month. It was very easy to learn how to fly. I did practice touch and go’s in my living room. Learning how to control it etc… I took it outside and flew it very carefully for several days in a row. It took great photos and video. I had no complaints. It has 2 red lights in the front and 2 green in the back. You have to make sure that you know which direction the drone is pointed and keep it in that direction or your controls end up backwards. Flying it in the daytime was very easy. I wanted to see those lights at night ad decided to try it at night. I somehow got it turned around and it took off in the wind after I achieved an altitude of at least 200-300 feet. I lost it in a pasture heavily dense with trees and rattle snakes. I looked but could not find it.
The Copter That wouldn’t die.

This quadcopter, I acquired as a spur of the moment Amazon Treasure Truck purchase but by god. This thing is tough. It flies great is easy to control but the real big deal of this product is it’s resilience. I was flying this guy in a park by Lake Washington and flew him a little to high and it was windy that day, so it being a light little thing it got pushed around in the wind. before I know it, it is pushed out of range. it controlled falls down and out of sight over the hill. I run after over the hill around some trees and see it as it barely goes down into the shallows of Lake Washington. Now at this point I have to decide wether or not to retrieve this guy from lack Washington in the winter. So I sit there and wrestle over the fact of littering, and all that jazz and I notice that it’s red and green lights are still on underwater. I finally decide it’s better if I don’t leave my crap lying around in the lake roll up my jeans take off my shoes and socks and walk my way out to this guy in the lake. I manage to retrieve it pulling it out water venting out through it’s pore and I take it home to dry off. The next day I go what the heck and start it up for a kicks and the Quadcopter still works 100% Camera, Everything. This is one beast of a copter.
