Well made product, one weakness.
I have been using this holder with an iPad Mini 4 for a bit less than two months. Overall I’m impressed with the quality of the construction and materials used, EXCEPT the plastic nut used to tighten the ball swivel. It worked great right up until yesterday, when mid flight the plastic nut split, leaving me with an iPad flopping around. To be fair, I may have been overzealous tightening the ball joint. SKYREAT was contacted, and graciously offered to send a new nut. While I’m sure that the plastic nut is adequate, one made of aluminum would be much more durable, and match the rest of the holders high quality construction. Use caution tightening the current plastic nut and you will probably be fine.
This is your mount! No need to spend $$$ on fancy alternative. Works FANTASTIC! Very pleased.
Bought this to use with my DJI Spark and it works great! I’m new to drones and saw so many options out there it was confusing. Was considering a popular mount that costs 3-4 times as much as this one. I’m sure there are some slight advantages to the more expensive alternative. The base on this model does have a very slight wiggle where it joins the remote, but not problematic in any way. This one isn’t as pretty, but it’s also far less expensive.
Perfect With ONE Issue
I like the fact that it is made of aluminum. Works really well and it has a compact design for storage. I know someone broke the large plastic nut but you only need to tighten it just enough keep the tablet from moving. The only issue I have had so far, after 6 months of use, is the folding arm attachment points will not stay tight. The screws stay tight but I think it is a wear point issue. I can put some blue Loctite on the screw or I have even wrapped some copper wire around the screw before I mount the arm. It all works fine for awhile but eventually, after folding and extending the arms a few dozen times, it loosens again. I would like to try a small plastic washer but it’s difficult to find one that small. If I can figure out a long-term fix for this issue I would gladly give it 5 stars.
Works Perfectly, As Advertised
Best feature: It’s compact and easy to store/transport. I use it with an iPad Mini 4 in an Otterbox Defender case. It holds the iPad firm and is well balanced. I also bought the RCstyle Lightning USB Cable and the PGYTECH L168 Monitor Hood. It’s the perfect setup, all-around, IMHO. And if you wear a black tee shirt, the glare is reduced about as much as you can ask, short of shady tree or a CrystalSky monitor.
Folds into smaller form and gets stored in its own bag.
I like it because you can fold it to store it in a bag. It comes with its own storage bag.
Stable Platform for full-size iPad Air or Similar
This all-aluminum (except the locking nut) is very stable, has an ingenious design where the arm folds flat into the base plate, and allows use of a full-size iPad Air. The unit when assembled and loaded is very balanced and stable, but the one downside is that the view of the controller display is completely blocked. Since I mostly focus on the iPad, this is not a deal breaker, but I do wish they would have figured out a way to maintain viewing of the display. The only other downside is that due to the solid aluminum construction, this one’s a bit on the heavy side for travel.
Exceeds at its intended design. Just buy this one!
I got my cracked-glass iPad mini repaired to use with this. Perfect application!
Well made product!
What a difference this makes over using my iPhone. Once I started using my iPad, it was so much easier to control the drone. The product is extremely well made, heavy duty, and clever engineering. At first, I couldn’t figure out how to get the stand to go up so I could mount the iPad cradle. Because there was no “ball” joint apparent, it seemed impossible. Finally when I figured out that the holes in the bottom of the mounting plate were to push up the 2 pieces of mounting bracket, wallah, the balljoint appeared when the pieces of the bracket came together. Vefery clever way to conserve space in folding it away and storing it in the little travel bag that comes with it. I hang it on my Spark combo bag with a little clamp. This is a well made product that works!
