Bought for my 71/2 year old nephew as an Easter present in his basket. He had no idea what they were, so I had to explain that Shrinky Dinks were all the rage when I was his age. (Yup, feeling old!) He didn’t seem interested at first until I opened the package with him and then he was so excited when he saw he could make his own magnets and keychains! That was it – he was off running with this craft! He ripped open the pack of designs and spent several minutes going through each one and picking the 3 he wanted to color (we set a limit for that day to make them last). 10 minutes later he had his 3 designs completely colored with the pencils that came in the kit and we were ready to cook. We got a step stool out and let him sit in front of the oven with the light on to watch them SHRINK of course! He was mesmerized – the look on his face when they started to move was incredible! Follow the instructions inside the package and you’ll be fine. It will take a minute or 2 for anything to happen once you put them into the oven, then they will shrink rather quickly and probably even curl right up into a ball. Don’t panic! They are meant to do that. Don’t take them out…just let them continue to cook until they flatten themselves out. Once that happens, wait another 30-45 seconds and then take them out. We had placed them on parchment paper on the cookie sheet, so when they came out of the oven we folded the parchment over the 3 shrinky dinks and pressed firmly (with a pot holder) for 15 seconds just make sure they were 100% flat. Worked like a charm! Nephew was so excited, that he begged us to let him do another one. We caved. And he loved it! With more than 20 items to color and all the accessories to display them when they are done, this really is an excellent, family oriented craft that grown-ups and kids can participate in and enjoy! And once you master this kit, you can buy the plain refill pages of shrinky dink paper and make your own designs from scratch.

My five year old son LOVES these … They’re like magic and they’re helping hone his fine motor skills.

These are great!!! I purchased them for my five year old son to work on his coloring motor skills … HE LOVES THEM! He was fascinated to watch them shrink through the oven door. He realized that the more detailed and the more color he puts on before they bake, the better they look … JUST what I was looking for – I’ll be buying more! Fantastic.

They are really easy to do

My boys had a blast creating these shrinky dinks. They are really easy to do. They can be colored with colored pencils or sharpie markers. The colors brighten and darken a great deal when they are heated to make them shrink. There is a great variety of characters and images in this kit that is just perfect for boys. We made key chains, pendants, and little dinosaurs that have little stands for them. A great rainy day activity for kids to do. My boys are 5 and 7 and they both loved creating them and then watching them shrink.

Makes a nice gift!

My kids love shrinky dinks, but a package of shrink film doesn’t make a very impressive gift. This is the second set I bought like this… the previous one was geared toward girls and this one I bought as a gift for a boy. The packaging is appealing and for the price I think it makes a very nice birthday gift that will be fun to use. Great rainy day activity.

As good as they’ve always been.

Fun product just like when I was a kid! I bought these for my nephew for Christmas and he had a lot of fun coloring them and playing once they were cooked. The little magnets work well. The stands you can use are a bit generic, but they work alright. The pieces do shrink up and are sturdy though. I had fun doing some with him.

These are just plain fun. The box comes with a ton of pieces to color and a set of pencils for coloring. There is no right or wrong way to color them, it is entirely up to the child (or adult if you can convince your kids to give you any :P).
