Assembly is NUTS!

 on March 27, 2017
By Heidi Billington
Omgosh! The installation in this thing is RIDICULOUS! I’m going to be blunt here, I’m normally really good at stuff like this. I can assemble things with no problem–I actually like it! But not this. I can’t even tell you how many pieces there were! Okay, the steering wheel alone was five pieces. You had to hammer and drill and honestly, it’s a bit much for a kid toy. Many of the things could’ve been preassembled and the box would’ve been the same size. Idk who thought it was a good idea to give a parent of a child 1.5-5 a toy that requires so much assembly! It took me over an hour to put it all together…I can’t even imagine how long it would take someone who wasn’t particularly good at this sort of stuff, so, the car itself is wonderful butthe assembly is just a bit crazy!

Assembly requires three miracles, two phenomena, an act of God and the blood of Jesus. Good luck.

Take my advice, as a grandpa who has assembled lots of hist in my life, read all the instructions before you start. Watch their YouTube video how-to assemble. This car is cute but you will need an engineering degree from MIT along with a team of tool experts to put this together. My curse vocab expanded during the construction phase. I was cursing China until I saw Made in America on the box. Do yourself a favor, watch the video before you buy.

Update on a classic

This is such a cute little car. It’s the updated version of the cars my wife and I had as kids in the 80s. Updated because it has a cute smily face at the front, and a handle at the back. I really appreciate the handle because my son is only 1 right now. He doesn’t have the skill level to move himself forward in this car, so it’s nice to push him around in something that’s more fun than a stroller (so he wants to sit in it longer). It also doesn’t have a seat belt, so I’d be worried that removing the floor board would let him slide down and out the bottom. For the record, my 6-year-old also can sit in this; although it’s a snug fit. I would imagine most kids through age 5 can fit. I don’t know how much use it would get from kids at the higher end of that age range, but they do fit.

The cozy coupe is great on so many levels

The cozy coupe is great on so many levels, but there a few things I had an issue with.

Warning putting the car together was hell but seeing how much he loved it was well worth the work

My nephew adored this car! Warning putting the car together was hell but seeing how much he loved it was well worth the work. Even with all the helpful videos they have putting this car together I still put the wrong bolts on the tires that were suppose to go on the top of the poll for the front wheels. I had to find the bolt cap at a local hardware shop otherwise going online it was like $15! Yikes. Anyways it took forever to put together and luckily I got it weeks before my nephews birthday.

This little item has now become a family tradition. I received my cozy coupe back in the late 80s for christmas and it was my favorite present. Now my niece is 1 and what perfect present than this little number. Installation was not as bad as some people made it sound, i actually thought it was quite ingenious is some ways, just the engineering in general, overall took me 20min or so. All worth it when I wheeled it in and when my niece saw it. It was the only present she got that she knew was for her and its been hard enough to keep her out of it! Little Tikes, keep up the fine work. American made.

Beware the assembly video!

First, I’m really excited to have purchased this classic toy and know that my daughter will love playing with it for years! It is very cute and looks to be well made as well as durable. But, we didn’t realize that the Little Tikes assembly videos show pieces that are out of date, and therefore we put it together incorrectly and are now awaiting replacement parts to complete the assembly. I was pleased with the videos to help assembly, but would just have followed the paper directions included had I realized that watching the videos would leave us short an axle rod cap. 🙁 Contacting Little Tikes customer service was quick and easy, but the packaging should not reference something that is incorrect and out of date. Happy with the toy, disappointed with the assembly process!
