Helpful hint: download companion audio. Not the audio books. Audio books cost extra money, and it don’t make it work to the touch, it just means you can press play on the pen and the pen will read the whole book. Companion audio makes it work to the touch, and doesn’t cost anything.

Better than the old one, but still not perfect.

This product is missing one thing…the ability to hold ALL of the content. I wish you could download to a USB drive or something and plug into the pen, the book you want to read. Having said that, the old one only held 10 or 12 books. That made it a product that we liked, but didn’t love. This one says that it holds up to 40 titles. As it is now, it holds all the compatible titles that we currently have. Not all are compatible however, and some that will be, are not yet.

What a great learning tool and alternative to screen time!!! Please don’t discontinue this, LeapFrog!

Both my 5.5 year old and 2 year old love this! It’s great they are not on any digital devices looking at a screen swiping away. This is actually getting both of them very interested in reading and books in general. I couldn’t be happier! I really wish they weren’t discontinuing this… I wanted to get more books to go with this. Hope they will come out with a similar or better reading assisting toy because all of my friends that saw what my children were reading with they were all amazed by it and said that they are getting one for their children!

Pretty cool toy

Bought this for a 6 year old who doesn’t care for traditional learning and it’s given hours of entertainment. It has options to read the text, read individual words, or spell out letters so of course he uses it just to read stories to himself instead of using it as a learning tool but at least he’s sitting with a book instead of dismantling the house.

Better than the previous Tag reader

I got this to replace our older Tag reader. It has more memory, so I was able to place all of our Tag book audio onto it, with room to spare. We were fortunate that the Tag books that we had were all compatible with the new LeapReader (not all of them are, check their website). However, the board book Tag Junior books aren’t available on the new LeapReader, which is a shame. With the previous Tag reader, I could place both hardcover Tag books and board book Tag Junior books on it.

Leap in!!

My four year old LOVES this tool. I call it a tool and not a toy as he learns so much from having this. I’m glad I made the investment.
