The Cyalume SnapLight brings light to dark places. A cornerstone of emergency preparedness, survivalist and general safety plans for decades, these heavy-duty light sticks aren’t some glow stick you pick up at a party store. SnapLight provides bright, reliable, 360 degree illumination for up to 12 hours. The green SnapLight is so bright it can be seen from up to a mile away – so you can rest assured knowing it will provide enough light for rooms, hallways, stairwells or your walk back to camp. SnapLight is waterproof, non-toxic and non-flammable. The light stick has a hook and gate top, for hanging, attaching or stringing the lights together. To activate SnapLight, simply bend, snap and shake to immediately flood your surrounding area with functional light. Each green SnapLight measures 6” long, 10 sticks per pack. Each light stick is individually foil-wrapped for protection from light and moisture and boasts a five-year shelf life from date of manufacture. For technical specifications, see the Material Safety Data Sheet below. Yes, they are very bright and last a long time.

At the large annual family camp-out in the northern woods of Michigan, there are two outhouses and one is a few hundred feet into the woods down a narrow trail. I hung these up on branches each night along the path leading to the far outhouse and it worked perfectly. Many long time attendees had actually forgotten about the existence of this outhouse and it suddenly became useful to them again, especially at night when the (excessive drinking and eating of Michiganders at camp-out) leads to much increased outhouse use.

Ya these are bright.

Holy wow these are bright. Compared to other glow sticks these are the brightest I’ve seen. I was surprised a little and glad that it matched up with the way I thought they would be. The plastic is thicker they are individually packaged with a lot of air in it so it would do well packed in a backpack.

I brought these with a main purpose to have a back up light source in case of blackouts, power outage, and also to have in my Bug out bag. I spent a lot of time searching through various light sticks and based upon other reviews I choose these. I have also brought the white color Cyalume Snaplight sticks.

Good for marking and safely navigating close areas

Bright enough to cast shadows in a small room. The green SnapLights are slightly dimmer than the yellow ones, but only very slightly. These are better for marking yourself than lighting up the environment, but you will be able to safely navigate a dark area with these. Don’t expect to use these glow sticks like a lantern. I wanted to use them for a night game of paintball but they were so bright we decided to save them for another time. They will definitely give your position away in pitch dark. You could use them as subtle ambient lighting in pitch dark by placing or throwing them in a room so you don’t walk into walls and furniture. Good product.

Work great, almost 5 year lifespan.

I have some of the mil spec versions around, so when I got these, I carefully compared them. Identical appearance, length, and even weight. I suspect that to guarantee that they meet mil specs, the manufacturer simply shortens the GUARANTEED lifespan for those sold to the military. After all, the military one are often stored in bad locations, high temps, really low temps, etc., so it makes sense to provide a shorter guaranteed life.

Don’t mess with other brands – these are the real deal

Had several other purchases that included bad(would not light) sticks, dim sticks, etc. The Cyalume SnapLight’s are *perfect*(so far), this is my 2nd purchase of 30, and every single stick worked great and lasted as long as it should.

I stumbled upon these while looking for some other camping products. I decided to give them a try as the only ones I have ever used are the Dollar Store units. I was impressed. One con is they do seem to start losing light about 1 hour into the illumination though. The units are bit longer than cheaper units but look the same. We have used them with the kids for things such as playing in the backyard at night with friends and Halloween. I do have a couple units in each of our vehicles just in case but have not had to use them.

Bright, heavy duty, and long lasting

My husband ordered two boxes of these lights to use for a church presentation (children singing while holding glow lights instead of candles…much safer than real candles). He ordered the green ones, and with a single snap, we were amazed at how bright the lights were even in daylight. They are made of a very thick plastic, so it would be hard for a small child to break one open. These are nothing like the cheap products you buy in a package for kids to wear or carry that end up breaking open and spill all over them. This is a heavy-duty product. A plus is the fact that they are nontoxic.

Excellent Product

I ordered a set of ten of these chem lights, tested one, and it lasted about 12 hours, as advertised. These aren’t spectacularly bright (that’s what flashlights are for), but they’re just bright enough to read by or find your way around a dark room safely. They’re non-toxic, non-flammable, weatherproof, and phthalate free, but they can stain fabric if broken open and spilled. A hook at the top lets you hang/tie them off objects. The expiration date on mine is 2016, so they should last a good long time if kept out of sunlight and extreme heat.
