A terrarium is a miniature garden in a simulated natural environment. The Grow N’ Glow Terrarium is a complete kit for helping kids to create their very own miniature eco-system. It’s so easy! You just assemble, decorate, water and watch it grow! It’s a fun way to teach kids about botany, eco-systems and the life cycle of plants. Kids love to see how things work and especially how the magic of seeds, soil, sun and water will blossom into green plants! This is a great lesson in cause-and-effect, responsible stewardship and delayed gratification, since the terrarium needs to be misted each day for the seeds to sprout and grow. Like keeping a pet, the plants will only thrive if they’re given water each day – but no worries – if they forget to water it they learn the importance of water to the life cycle! And when they do water it, the seeds begin to shoot up in 3 to 4 days.

After assembly, there are delightful garden stickers and glow-in-the-dark stars to embellish your terrarium further. During the day, when the terrarium is in full light, it soaks up light for the plants and also soaks up light in the glow stickers. Then at night the stickers will glow and it looks like an enchanted little lightning bug house!! This is a great project for for homeschoolers working on a botany unit, or for anyone who’d like to have a sweet little decorative terrarium by day and a glow-house by night!

Everything you need is included for 2 full planting life-cycles, so you can plant your terrarium and watch it grow, then do it all again in a month or so, depending upon how long your plants thrive.

I sent this to a special little girl named Alexa. She just got over a fight with cancer. She loves it !!!! It was delivered 7/08/15 and grew this tall 8 days later. I recommend this to all children as a very special gift.

My son loved watching the plants grow.

Fun and educational, but a word to the wise – you only need to use half of the contents so that you can grow the terrarium twice.

Excellent for kids interested in gardening!!!!!

Awesome! I chose this over so many others, unsure which one my son would like. He’s interested in gardening (!) and wasn’t sure where to start. I chose this one, and he absolutely loved it. It grew so fast, & he was so excited every day to see how it had changed. He loved it so much, we bought it for our nephew. My sister and brother in law seemed a bit baffled as to why (as did our nephew, it wasn’t on his list!!!), but I think that by now, he’ll have gotten an idea why it was so fun. You get to see it grow so fast. It has all kinds of things in it to decorate it, actually inside and outside, including glow in the dark stickers, and a little bunny rabbit. It was fantastic, and he loved it, and is now interested in what else they sell. My husband really wants to try out the venus fly traps, I’m not sure we’re ready for that one yet! In trying to describe those plants to our son, he looked a little unsure. My son has a GREAT imagination! We may try something else first, maybe get my husband the flytrap 🙂

LOVE IT!

Beautiful , fun, whimsy! Grows great- and u can regrow again and again. My daughter even took it to show and tell one day- this summer the little bunny and mushroom ended up in our fairy garden outside – -and they are still in one piece- ready for a jar garden inside for the winter!

We quite enjoyed putting them together

These were a hit- for both my children (6 and 10)- and myself. We quite enjoyed putting them together, and it was simple enough to give the kids free reign with it for the most part. The decorations (bunny, mushrooms, stickers) are lovely and the kids very much enjoyed decorating. I just finished doing these, so I can’t speak to how well the seeds will sprout, but I often start seeds in jars, and almost always have great success doing so. Also, my kids seem to think these will be great for catching bugs and keeping them in 🙂

My 5 year old loves this. Its a great way to incorporate some educational fun into our day. It gives her a sense of responsibility also because she has to water it, or spray it rather, everyday or she starts to see it die. I only wish the container was glass and the lid more sturdy. I understand they probably didn’t want to make it glass because of kids breaking it. I just prefer sturdy items.

My 6 year old daughter loved this! I was worried it wouldn’t grow cause after a week, nothing. Then she dumped it over. I assumed it was a goner by then, but I watered it anyways. Another week goes by and I realize there’s growth! This is about 2 1/2 weeks after planting. We also did not use the grow light. Just food ol’natural sun on the windowsill.

A good scientific "toy" that doesn’t feel wasteful

Gave it to my seven year old for Christmas and he loved it! He’s an independent reader and needed no assistance with reading the instructions or assembly. He had a blast with it and was happy to have a “mini garden” that he can watch. The seeds are wheat grass and chia, which are quite hearty, so even in the chilly Midwest he shouldn’t have an issue growing anything as long as he continues to follow the directions. Definitely a nice gift that doesn’t feel like a waste on a toy that will easily break, and it’s something that you can keep some of the parts and grow something new in should you decide to.
