The sack race or gunny sack race is a competitive game in which participants place both of their legs inside a sack or pillow case that reaches their waist or neck and jump forward from a starting point toward a finish line. The first person to cross the finish line is the winner of the race. In some cases the winner of these races are rewarded with a prize of some sort. These sacks are made with natural jute burlap also known as hessian cloth.

Bought these as a game to play at a party and they are durable and a lot of fun… though we’ve only had for a couple months we’ve used them a number of times. I think they will hold up for a long time or at least I hope.

….for growing potatoes. Roll the sides down, plant potatoes in an inch or two and as they start to grow roll the sides up and fill with more dirt. Dump out a sack of potatoes at the end of the growing season.

Very good large jute bag. Definitely smells of new burlap material. Cord size is about 1/8″ and sturdy although noticed the weave in areas was somewhat loose which can lead to small size items (1/8″ or so) to pass through. Would have gone for 5 stars if had a drawstring sewn in to secure the top and bit tighter weave. I used some short pieces of rope to tie up the bags but have to be careful they don’t slip/roll them over the top.

Was perfect for kids of all ages and sizes to do …

Was perfect for kids of all ages and sizes to do the potato sack races in! They smelled pretty badas the qadvertisement states, but I washed them outside several times with tons of soap and water and let them sit in the sun for 3-4 days before my party. The smell was not as strong by then.

Just in time for Grandkids Camp

I could not find nice burlap bags with which to make a bag swing. As a result, I had to buy several very scratchy burlap bags at a farm tractor store. They were hard on my hands while trying to fill them with straw and I felt terrible thinking of little tender legs having to wrap around a bag swing made of such rough material. Then, I thought of Amazon, I asked for nice burlap bags on Amazon and found these. I received them just three days after ordering them and two days before the Camp started. Amazingly, I had plenty of time to assemble the swing and have it ready for the beginning of the kids’ camp. The bags were soft material that was nice for little bare legs to hug while swinging high into the air. What a thrill they had. I ordered enough to have several extra ones for next year. I think the bags would be great for the three leg bag races too. They are just as nice as they look in the ad.

Quality is good, and product is as advertised

I received the sacks on the day promised. I created plant potting containers out of two of them the day I received them. They hold the potting soil in just fine and will certainly hold up all growing season.

Not just for sack racing

These worked out great, we didn’t purchase these to have a sack race although i think they would work great for that, we got them to cover our sensitive bushes for the winter, they are perfect, not too thick or heavy.
