Zhu Zhu Pet Hamster Recall?
My mother called and told me that the Zhu Zhu pets i got for my Step-Kids and Sister have been recalled, but everywhere Ive looked online says they are still safe… Off one of the websites i saw this.. ‘But the toy’s maker, St. Louis-based Cepia LLC, insisted in a statement that its product is safe and has passed rigorous testing” Does anyone know anything about this recall! Im kinda upset over it, i stood in line at Toys R Us for 4 hours to get these pets for the kids, now im wondering if i need to re-Christmas shop and get them all something else..
Yes i know this could have gone in a different section, but i wanted opinions from people with kids..

Marlene McClure answers:
They were not recalled. There was a test done saying that there was a high level of metal inside the toy. This would only be poisonous if the child eats the toy. The testing company later retraacted their statement and said the toy was safe.

Michael asks…
Are Zhu Zhu Hamsters all they are cracked up to be?
I’ve just seen an advert for ‘Zhu Zhu Hamsters‘ (once ‘Go Go Hamsters‘) and I must admit, I was pretty impressed. It described each character, and told of the differences between each one. One loves the smell of flowers, one loves carrots and one (I think it’s name was Mr.Squiggles) loves to drive.
What I want to know is, is it true? I mean, is it only Mr. Squiggles that can drive? Will the one that likes carrots/flowers actually move towards a carrot inn the same room? I might sound like an idiot here, but it peaked my curiosity. Does anyone own more than one Zhu Zhu pet? Can you tell the difference in the personalities or is it all just garbage? Thanks for your time.

Marlene McClure answers:
All the Zhu Zhu pets Patches, Chunk, PipSqueak, Mr. Squiggles, Num Nums, etc. Can drive the cars. Zhu Zhu Car designed the very special way so hamsters can sit into them and drive whatever direction all by their own. Car has one sit for one hamster driver. So if Chunk, for example came into the garage, he will get into the car, sit on the special drivers place in the back of zhu zhu car an drive, all by himself! After driving the car for some time, pet can leave the car any time and walk further.
Their artificial intelligence allows them to know what room of their hamster habitat they are in. They make toilet-flushing or teeth-brushing sounds when they enter the bathroom and sleeping noises and alarm-clock sounds when they go into their bedroom.
The cute Hamsters are interactive toy pets and displays an artificial intelligence. These cute little hamster’s are programmed to carry out a number of the deeds that a real hamster would do. The best part of owning these Pet Hamsters is that there is no mess to clean up and there are no unpleasant’ odors. There is no worry of the critters passing away and bringing tears to the children.
They are very cute and have their own personality as you huge and play with them.

Sharon asks…
what age are zhu zhu pet hamster toys for ?
my sisteers want them but i dont know what the age group is
my sisters are 8 and 11

Marlene McClure answers:
The target age is aimed at 3 to 10 year olds and is quite the rage with kids, a loved toy by most.
They are a perfect pet for those that don’t want a real pet.
Just note that it isn’t a toy designed to be slept with, take the batteries out if your child does. It may contain higher-than-allowed levels of antimony, a heavy metal which if ingested can make children sick. Make sure if you have any pets like a dog, that it doesn’t chew on it.
