I got this kit for my 5-year-old daughter who loves doing little experiments and I decided to try this kit out. It comes with a set of items that facilitate a range of relatively easy and fun experiments. The kit contains: red cabbage juice powder, citric acid, baking soda, color tablets, cross-linked polyacrylamide crystals, vegetable oil, corn starch, 2 sheets of goldenrod paper, 2 cotton swabs, 3 test tubes and caps, 3 clear plastic cups, 1 pipette (in the form of an eye dropper), 2 stir sticks, 1 small plastic scoop, and 1 medium plastic scoop. The experiments also call for some basic and easy-to-find household items such as water, baking flour, plate/tray, tape, red and blue pens, grape juice, coffee filter paper, etc.

I purchased this kit for my 5-year-old son whose favorite subject in Kindergarten is Science. Oh boy, was he so thrilled when I told him it’s coming in 2 days (Thanks to Prime!)! We both scoured the whole Amazon for science kits, and this is the one that he chose for his first one.

Are the majority of these experiments something you could do yourself with some citric acid and baking soda? Absolutely. In fact, my daughter used some of my household supply to extend an experiment she had done in the kit.

Says 4+ age. S/B a little older.

I take away 1 star just because it wasn’t really clear on the product page or box what ages this item was suitable for. It’s “My FIRST” science kit so I got it for my 5 year old nephew. Once I got it and looked inside, the clearest age recommendation is on the front of the enclosed instruction manual and states that it’s for “6+”. The detailed product page info says (I see now) “4+”. I do think that my 5 year old (preschool-enrolled) nephew will be able to enjoy it with our help.I think that most kids 5 and up should be able to use this with (of course) adult supervision. Older kids (maybe 7, 8 and up) would get the most out of this because it will be more educational for them (versus just being fun).

If you’re looking for a child friendly lab kit, this is it!

This is the most kid friendly and fun lab kit you can get. My kids are ages 2 and 4 and cannot get enough of this. Everything in the kit is high-quality, and this kit lasts a very long time. We have done these experiments over and over for 3 months and only recently have used an entire bag of something. I admit to even being impressed by how cool the activities are. This is worth every single penny. I will 100% be ordering another kit when we deplete all the things in ours.
