My two year old loves this! My kiddo is dexterous like you wouldn’t believe, and has a passion for opening and closing doors as well as removing covers and lids (electrical socket safety plugs, the backs of remotes, change purses, bottle tops, baby wipes) and opening clasps (wallet, watches, bracelets). If your child is the type who’s always looking for new and exciting ways to raise your blood pressure with feats of exquisite motor control, this latchboard is a great way to redirect that energy and curiousity.

Future lock pick coming through….

Love love love this toy!!! It’s says ages 3+ but I decided to get it for my 12 month old before I invested the time/money into making a busy board he could care less about. It is very well made, the latches are all on very securely and there are no small parts that would come off or could be swallowed. My son has managed to figure out how to open and close all the latches with the exception of the blue house (lock #2) but I think that’s mostly because the lock itself is a little stiff and hard to turn on our board, it’ll loosen up more with lots of play. I’m becoming very partial to the Melissa & Doug brand. Every toy I’ve bought from this company has been beyond impressive and continues on with this toy, it’s worth every penny.

Excellent

I got this for The Little Granddaughter who (like probably all toddlers) can’t bear to be locked out/shut out/kept out of anything, whether it’s doors, drawers, or containers. Anything closed is meant to be opened, obviously, and I wash out little plastic jars, tubes and bottles for her to open and close to her heart’s content. I’m not sure where the 3 years of age recommendation comes in, because she’s 18 months and I think any baby who like fiddling with things would have fun with this, and I suspect a 3 yr. old would be bored silly with it – it’s too easy. She loves it. Her Dad mounted it on the wall at her height so it wouldn’t slide around while she uses it. All the locks & latches work perfectly. I hope they come out with another one a little more complicated, perhaps; at least for a toddler her age this will be outgrown within weeks. Great toy for the price, especially for manual dexterity and small motor control.
