My children, (4.5 and 2.5) got these for Christmas, one 30 piece set each. Shown here is the red and purple and green and purple set. My daughter received the red & purple, but they also come in blue & yellow which is what my son has. There are two shapes – 18 squares and 12 triagles in the 30 piece box. 30 pieces is enough to build decent sized shapes, but if you have a builder who enjoys elaborate structures, they may want more pieces. From what I’ve seen, I would think 14 pieces would be too few. All the pieces in a set are the same two colors, one side is red, the other purple for example.

Magformers are the best! Get several sets

Magformers are a great especially for school-age children. I have several different sets. I work as a counselor in a public school and all the kids love them. This is a very basic set – so I strongly recommend buying this set only to add to an existing collection. I made my original purchases from QVC. The only thing lacking in the QVC sets were the Idea booklet that shows many construction ideas. I wanted to add some more basic pieces to my larger QVC set, so this was perfect for me. The squares and triangles are used the most. It’s a fun activity for all ages – even adults. Magformers aren’t as widely known about as Legos, and it’s a different activity than Legos –but if you are looking for a good gift for a child, I strongly suggest considering Magformers. ***Please note that I do not recommend this small basic set for a gift by itself; buy this set in addition to a bigger set. There are many choices available. It may seem a bit expensive, but it’s really a great value when you see how much fun you will have.

Great toy for any age – babies through senior citizens. There are no sharp corners, very colorful, and require imagination. I played with them with my 3 year old grandson and he loved putting them together.

best idea ever!

I’m in the process of licensing my home daycare and ordered these to fill a ‘toy’ requirement. these have been the most played with item in my home. i’m going to need to order another set. the kids (everyone from 2 yr to 12 yr olds) love them and they have provided HOURS of imaginative play!

Quality strong magnets which surprisingly kept my 6 almost 7 year old entertained. One caution this was a very basic set with few pieces. We used this set to expand a larger set with wheels. Great for all the builders in your life.

My 6 year old grandson received these for Christmas and my 2 year old grandson had such fun playing with them that I purchased a set for his birthday. They constructed things together for easily over an hour (and I did say a 2 year old here!) This is a sturdy, simple toy for many ages to enjoy.

We ended up buying 3 sets of Magformers for Christmas. The big kids (or should I say adults) were having as much playing with them as the little ones. There are endless things to build and they are so much fun to snap together! The best part is the magnets seem to be multidirectional, so you don’t have to line them all up the right way to get them to hook together. We highly recommend them!

amazing toy for babies and older—but might need more pieces

We were recently visiting my best friend when we saw baby had these. They were such a hit with my 4 year old that we bought this 14 piece set. It’s very rare for my little ball of energy to sit and do anything for very long but these do keep his attention better than other toys. We also take them to restaurants and in the car to keep him entertained. I gave it 4 starts b/c I feel like we might have to buy more. You can’t really build much with just the 14 pieces…. I think it depends on the age of the child. My friend just had the pack of 6 and that was fine for her less than 2 year old. I say if you have a 3 year old or up to go ahead and get the pack with more pieces.

This Magformers set is a GREAT set to sit and play with, sometimes for hours!!! Imagination have at it!!

This Magformers set was on sale (A real good one too) So I picked it up as a fill in gift for my 8 year old who likes to tinker with things…WELL…. This became one of her most LOVED gifts. She spent hours just toying with the 14 pc set and then told me she would love to have more pieces to build bigger things. Since I seen how much she enjoys building with Legos and K’nex I decided to get her two more/different sets of the Magformers and now, every day she builds something new and different. She tells me this set is easy to put together and take apart so she does all her K’nex pre-planning on the Magformers first!!

Safe fun

Toddler granddaughter loves moving these around & is starting to put them together to make objects. Feel safe to say that her baby brother will enjoy these as well. I appreciate the magnets being inside the forms, so little fingers can’t pull them out.
