Like most geeks, as soon as I saw the awesome spectacle of Rogue One, I just had to get some movie merch to go with it. I settled on the U-Wing fighter/transport because A) Lego is always interesting and B) It came with Cassian and Jyn. It turned out to be a great choice. I managed to snag this sweet box at a substantial discount (~20% off) and as soon as it arrived, I went to work.

I mostly loved this build – relatively complex, lots of pieces, cool functionality, and some good (if slightly off-theme) minifigures. The finished product is really big, too, and stores well since it had a slim, long, flat footprint when the wings are folded in. I personally like the U Wing design, though I acknowledge that it’s not everyone’s favorite thanks to the fat troop/cargo bay on the bottom. Outward design aside, I think this bottom half of the craft is where some of the weaknesses lie. For instance the cargo bay interior is too cramped and rather plain – once you attach the doors (which are very cool) it will be VERY hard to manipulate any minifigs inside. But its more for show, so it’s cool. On the back of the craft there is a door that drops down into a ramp that leads to nothing, which is is a missed opportunity. Imagine if the back ramp could load into the main compartment.

LOVE the set! Will be buying the rest now! Lego went all out on the Rogue One line!

Love the design and the possibility of the wings for different modes! Looks and use are both taken into account with this set in the many places to store mini-figures and the launcher feature popping out when loaded. Loved the design in the film and am very grateful that Lego put the time and effort into designing it perfectly! The only thing I could have asked from this set would be the inclusion of K2-SO. With the figures of Jyn and Cassian in the set it only seems right that K2 would be included, but even without him I like the inclusion of the rebel fighters.

Great, fun build. Would have liked a bigger cargo bay with better access to get the figures in the bay. I’m an adult collector, and I have some difficulty getting my hand and the figures in position. Bay is one plate taller than the figures, and just wide enough to hold 2 figures side by side, so it is a tight fit. Would also have liked a ramp in the rear of the bay, and less kibble in the way of the large window beneath the ship (really can’t see into the bay because of the structure holding the bay in place). Vehicle feels solid, all features work well, and good minifigure selection. Could have been better if it was a bit more expensive set, but as is, I still highly recommend it to fans of the ship. Also wish Jyn Erso figure had regular hair piece and printed holster on her legs.

This set was a lot of fun to build. The swinging wings are well designed and quite strong. The sliding doors are pretty cool and I love the way they did the missile release buttons.

This is the best Star Wars set from Lego yet!!!!! The u wing has become just as iconic as the x wing and the y wing and the wings sweep back and forth giving the toy it’s wow factor. I recommend this toy to Lego and Star Wars fans both

A Great Build and Finished Ship! Made me feel like a kid again!

As a thirty-something year-old, I felt I was a little too late when Lego first started issuing Star Wars sets back in 1999, which was a shame because it combined two of my favorite childhood toys and universes.

Nice kit, easy to build and looks great

The dimension ratios are obviously not close to correct, but it looks cool enough that it doesn’t bother me.

Another Excellent Lego Product!

I purchased this as part of my 7 year old grandson’s Christmas gift. He loved it! We’re a family of Lego lovers. All the adult males in our family are engineers and mathematicians, and they still love receiving Lego sets–the more complex, the better. Of course, they all want the Star Wars sets.

My son loves this ship. Very sturdy and fun to play with. It is a larger ship but not too hard to handle even for a five year old. Very easy build and good representation of the ship in Rogue One. Minifigures are a nice part of the set as well.
